ASAFSF's SHAKTI 2009 CONFERENCE A SUCCESS!!
|
ASAFSF shares its conference news with you -- we had 55 people attend the conference on Saturday, April 18th at the Fiesta Inn Resort and Conference Center in Tempe, AZ -- attendees included members of the South Asian and other communities in the valley, members of various local community service organizations, and speakers from various parts of the country, and one from India!
- An overwhelming majority of those who attended the conference
were very satisfied with the overall quality of the conference.
- About 95% indicated that the conference helped them understand
DV issues in the South Asian community better!
- More than 80% indicated that the information presented was very
useful, and nearly 90% were very satisfied in how the conference inspired them to be more involved in organizations and activities assisting DV victims.
- Quoting some of the attendees who turned in their evaluations
(nearly 80% of 55), the best part of the conference was:
- "One of the best and informative conferences I've
attended."
- "The whole conference was excellent!! The discussions
after the skit were great!" and " The skit was so powerful... it moved me to tears."
- "Useful and valuable information; increased [my]
awareness...." and, "This was a great awareness [building]" event.
- "The presentations and speakers were outstanding; food
was great!"
- "Strong and well planned agenda; very knowledgeable
speakers with first hand experience"
- "Audience discussions were great!"
- "Great location and room arrangements!"
- "Everyone involved is doing a great job. Please continue
and we will support you."
- "The key is to bring knowledge and awareness to the
community. We all need to get used to the issue and stay on top of the community leaders for support. Thank you for all you do...."
- Our attendees also gave us some great ideas to explore for
future events:
- Informal informational sessions such as our "Chai Chat"
event. [contact us to set one up in your home]
- Cultural programs (music, dance, art exhibits, theatre)
- Charity walks, runs, sporting events
- Arts and Crafts fairs, educational programs for South
Asian teens and youth, child-friendly and family events including cook-outs, bake sales, etc.
Thank you for these wonderful suggestions!
THANK YOU, attendees, speakers, volunteers, donors, sponsors of ads, for helping make this conference a success!
